First and Second Grade

  • Religion (1st):  Sadlier, We Believe – God Loves Us; Ruah Woods, Revealed; weekly Mass attendance and participation in religious school events
  • Religion (2nd): Sadlier, We Believe – Jesus Shares God's Life; Ruah Woods, Revealed; weekly Mass attendance and participation in religious school events; preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist with RCL Benzinger, Reconciliation and Eucharist.
  • Math: Sadlier, Math, with emphasis on learning addition and subtraction facts
  • Reading, English, & Spelling:  HMH, Into Reading series
  • Phonics: Heggerty Phonics daily and HMH, Into Reading phonics integrated
  • Handwriting: Learning Without Tears My Printing Book and Printing Power; cursive added for the second half of second grade through Universal Publishing, Writing Our Catholic Faith
  • Science & Social Studies: HMH, Into Reading series has many science and social studies standards integrated into reading, along with Scholastic News and Mystery Science to supplement
  • Library and Shared Time Specials

Third and Fourth Grade Curriculum

  • Math: Sadlier, Math, with emphasis on mastery of addition and subtraction facts and learning and reinforcing multiplication and division facts
  • Reading & Spelling: HMH, Into Reading series
  • English: Houghton Mifflin, English
  • Handwriting: Cursive with Universal Publishing, Writing Our Catholic Faith
  • Science: FOSS, Science
  • Social Studies (3rd): Hillsdale, Meet Michigan
  • Social Studies (4th): McGra Hill, Impact Social Studies Regions of Us

  • 3rd and 4th Math – 60% assessments, 30% homework, 10% math facts and Xtra Math
  • 3rd Science – 50% assessments, 50% daily work/homework/labs
  • 3rd Social Studies – 50% assessments, 25% participation/daily work, 25% homework
  • 3rd English – 50% assessments, 25% essays, 15% homework, 10% daily work
  • 3rd Religion – 50% assessments, 40% homework/daily work, 10% Mass participation

Mass Participation looks like:

  • Opening the book
  • Hold the book up (not on the pew)
  • Singing the words
  • Stating the prayers
  • Hold your hands as an altar at your heart – SAY, "AMEN." Jesus goes in the less dominate hand, and pick it up with the dominate hand.
